Pottstown NR Zone

Habitat Montco has been building homes in Pottstown since 2001. In 2016, Habitat Montco established a 6-block Neighborhood Revitalization zone encompassing the 300 and 400 blocks of Beech St, Walnut St, and Chestnut St. Habitat Montco works with 339 households through its NR work in Pottstown.

  • NR Committee
    • Committee of community leaders and organizations currently forming that will meet bi-monthly to help guide and bring resources and information to Habitat Montco’s NR Program
  • Rock the Block
    • Annual community clean-up day with community residents and volunteers
    • In April 2016, Habitat Montco partnered with Pottstown CARES and the Hill School to engage 200 students, community residents, and volunteers in this day of service. Work included 9 home preservation projects, installing rear house numbers, painting a local partner agency, maintaining community gardens, working on a Habitat home, and picking up trash throughout the community
    • The next Rock the Block will take place in April of 2017
  • Community Meetings
    • Held bi-monthly to identify local assets and challenges, work towards solutions, and facilitate resident leadership
  • Physical Property Assessments
    • Annual assessments of the physical condition of homes, commercial property, and vacant property within the NR zone to identify issues and measure progress
  • Community Resident Surveys
    • Annual surveys to measure residents’ quality of life, track progress, receive feedback, and capture residents’ challenges and aspirations for their neighborhood
